FROM THE DESK OF KINARD

Hey gang.  We’ve been hard at work since 99X went from regular radio to the internet and HD2.  We have made quite a bit of improvements too since we started.  Have you checked out the latest version of 99X.com?  You can now just listen to the station or you can click to do audio and video.  Our sound quality is one of the best that’s out there.  We’ll take the Pepsi Challenge against any stream!  I want you to know that we are working everyday to make sure that this site is an amazing source of music and more.  The more you support us during this time, the easier it will be for us to come back to regular radio, if the opportunity arises.

FAQ’s

Here’s what you’ll notice if you haven’t checked us out lately:

“What about the DJ’s?”
We have jocks now on the air every weekday.  Jillian is on 6a-10a.  Steve Craig is back and on from 10a-3p. I am on 3p-7p and Lewis (from Matt C and Lewis) is on 7p-Midnight.

“Can I still make requests?”
We have a new request line and its toll free: 888-515-499X.  Use it!  Make requests or call up to just BS with us. You can shoot us e-mails whenever you want and we will do our best to respond or play your song.  You can make those e-quests to jillian@99x.com, steve@99x.com, kinard@99x.com and lewis@99x.com.

“Hey Kinard, what the hell?  I want to listen to 99X in my car!”
You can.  Just use an HD radio.  You can buy an HD radio for car, office and home.  You can also learn more about HD radio on our homepage under the “You can still listen in your car” button.

“What about events?”
We will still be doing all the same 99X events.  One of the first ones will be Unplugged in the Park at Park Tavern.  It kicks off very soon.  We will still bring you concerts and you’ll find us out all around town.  Nothing has changed, except we are now found only online and on HD2.

“What about the music?”
Musically, we want to get back to being the station for which you turn to find what’s new.  You’ll still hear your favorite songs, but we hope to truly expose you to new and different bands over the course of the year.

“What’s up with this visual radio thing?”
This whole visual thing we have been talking about will start in about 8 weeks.  When you see it, you’ll know why it took so long.  It looks frickin’ sweet.

“Will you guys still do contests and give away concert tickets?”
Absolutely.  Again, nothing has changed except where you can listen to us.

Explore the site and tell us what you think.  If you find things that are wrong with it, let us know.  On the home page, on the right side, you’ll find an “Under Construction Report Bugs” button.  Click there and tell us what you found.

Thank You for your continued support of 99X.

99X FAQ's

Based on our respect for and belief in 99X and the passion of our listeners, we have the courage to have 99X blaze new trails into the internet and HD in the same way similarly adventurous stations did likewise when AM was all there was and FM was a pipedream. And just like in the days when there was only AM in cars and transistor radios, we’ll be getting out info on all the gadgets out now and coming out soon that will allow 99X to be taken with you, and not just heard on your PC.

We believe there is a huge audience for Alternative music, and are such firm believers in it that we are returning 99X to a true, adventurous Alternative station.

99X will continue to live in the real world as we put on Big Day Out, Mistletoe Jam, the Unplugged in the Park concert series, and the other great concerts and events the station has become rightly famous for Freeloaders will still be as privileged as ever. Organic X will still be that special place in your week.  And once again we will offer the same sense of discovery that 99X did when it was first launched, and reinvent the way it’s done with Visual Radio.

This is a work in progress, and we want you to be a part of how it develops, where it goes, and how far we can take it.  As time goes on, we will be offering you more ways to interact with us, give us your opinions, tell us what you want.

This is the best tribute we can pay, and the most appropriate way for 99X to carry on, rather than to live in the past and become just another mainstream radio station.  Join us at 99X.com, and embrace your music, news, community involvement, and so much more that truly matters.
