With over a million views in less than 3 days, OK GO has another YouTube sensation on their hands. This video is one continuous shot, much like their "Here It Goes Again" treadmill video. However, this one is an elaborate "Mousetrap" type contraption with swinging hammers, falling dominoes, and more fun stuff.
According to BoingBoing.net the contraption was built by Syyn Labs. Adam Sadowsky of Syyn Labs wrote: The requirements were that it had to be interesting, not "overbuilt" or too technology-heavy, and easy to follow. The machine also had to be built on a shoestring budget, synchronize with beats and lyrics in the music and end on time over a 3.5 minute song, play a part of the song, and be filmed in one shot. To make things more challenging still, the space chosen was divided into two floors and the machine would use both.
Look for a "making of" article written by Adam in a forthcoming issue of MAKE magazine.

We are only a week away now from the new Gorillaz album Plastic Beach, and they are building the anticipation. This week, the Gorillaz put out the video for "Stylo" featuring a car chase thru the desert. In pursuit, Bruce Willis, basically playing a caricature of himself. And the Gorillaz, you would almost think they were real.
You can also stream Plastic Beach now via NPR.

So they remade the classic "We Are the World" to benefit victims of the Haitian earthquake. It's a whole new cast of artists, and not a single singer from the first one is on it. I mean, even Vince Vaughn is on it. Well one 80's icon that was on the first one is not taking this lying down...

While the rest of the nerds at the station are drooling over the Bonnaroo lineup announcements today, I'm drooling over something else. Ah yes its that time of year again, when the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue hits newstands. This year's covergirl is Mrs. Andy Roddick, Brooklyn Decker. Its her first cover, but hopefully not her last.

Dave Grohl was on SNL the other night with Them Crooked Vultures, playing two tunes "New Fang" and "Mind Eraser". He even got in on a skit towards the end of the show, but it was easily one of the best skits of the night. With Fred Armisen on vocals, Bill Hader on bass, Ashton Kutcher on guitar and Dave on drums, "Crisis of Conformity" turned a wedding reception into a “Fist Fight in the Parking Lot.”

Phoenix's songs tend to be bright, precise, and meticulously planned-out. "Sad-Eyed Lady of the Lowlands", the sprawling 11-minute ramble that closes Bob Dylan's 1966 masterpiece Blonde on Blonde, is anything but.
It's something of a surprise to learn that Phoenix have taken on "Sad-Eyed Lady", but that's exactly what they did in a recent acoustic set for the German magazine Musikexpress (via the Tripwire). Click above to stream or download Phoenix's considerably more concise version of the song.
